I hope all of you enjoyed the long Thanksgiving weekend.  I had a wonderful and relaxing time with my family!  I ate some things I wouldn't usually touch, and enjoyed every bite.   I have gained a few pounds since my last race.  This happens to most athletes in their off season, as they don't learn how to change their eating to accomodate their reduced workload.  It also happens to most people I know during the holidays due to overeating, and less exercise.  Men and women in the United States especially get so stressed during the holidays with all the gift buying, parties, and travelling.  My automatic way of dealing with weight gain is to get upset and feel bad for a while until I get motivated again.  In the past that method didn't really work.  What has worked is to make a plan of eating.  Since I am back to training I must get enough fuel for my workouts, but if I plan everything I will have less snacking.  Luckily I just need some minor adjustments, and I am sure the pounds will come off.  Believing I can do it is the first step.  Since there is no better time than the present I am going to plan tomorrow right now.  I will keep you posted on how it's going.  HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
Ready to get back to work!

The last two weeks I have had time off from training.  My coach Siri told me to do almost nothing the first week (by Wednesday I was already going crazy), and just a little crosstraining this week.  She said no swimming, biking, or running this week - I didn't follow that today.  My husband Jude and I went to town lake and ran the 3 mile loop together at a slow pace.  We haven't done that (just the two of us) in more that 5 years!  It was so fun.  I have also been taking some time to write and edit articles for a fitness newsletter and a business magazine.  I would love to share my insights in to being a Mom and triathlete at a much larger scale!  Hopefully I will get to.  I look forward to starting training again next week  - it will be easy for a few weeks before hard training begins again.  Another year of adventure is right around the corner!
