Getting Ready to Go.....

Training has been going well in the last few weeks.  My energy is better, so I have not missed any workouts lately.  I have been getting to sleep earlier and taking some good vitamins.  Last week was my son David's birthday, and MY Birthday!  It was a wonderful week of celebration with my family and a few friends.  I am getting prepared for my adventure in Hamburg, Germany for the 2007 ITU Age Group World Championship Triathlon.   My parents, Jane and Jack Underhill, have volunteered to come and help my mother-in-law, Marie Samson, take care of the kids while Jude and I go to the race.  We are so lucky to have so much support from our family!  I am excited to be part of Team USA once again.  For this race I will be focused on only myself, be in the moment, relax, and go HARD, HARD, HARD at every moment until the end!!  This week will be crazy, as we have to get ready to go, and the kids are starting school on Monday.  Aliya is going to her first day of kindergarten - WOW!  My baby is getting so big.  Have a wonderful week - please think of me and send me FAST vibes.
Solid Race in Ohio....

This past Sunday I had a race in Ohio.  I was attempting to qualify for the 2008 World Championship in Vancouver.  I was second overall.  Only the top spot automatically qualified, but if the first place finisher doesn't take the spot, I would be happy to.  I am very happy with my race overall, however.  Mentally I was positive, focused, and stayed in the moment.  I had a solid swim, a great bike on a flat course, and my run was slow, but I kept going strong.  I need to work on my speed, as we leave for Germany in about two week, but I feel my health is good now.  I will just do my best to get ready for my second Team USA experience!

Waiting for my energy to return.....

The last four days I have been having very low energy.  A deep tiredness that I do not think is overtraining, but rather something else that I have not discovered yet.  My coach (Siri)  gave me a new schedule this week that included a lot more rest days and very light days.  I am hoping it will help, but I am also seeking advice from my pharmacist, doctor, and other athletes that have experienced similar symptoms.  I am doing my best to keep positive and confident that I can continue to train and be the best I can be, it will just have to wait until my body is ready for that to happen.  Have a wonderful day!
