Renewed Joy in Training...... The last two weeks I have been back to TRI training. The intensity is not as much as regular season training, but I have had some fantastic workouts. It all seems like so much fun after my break!! One of the reasons may be I needed a longer break from hard training. The most likely reason for my excitement, however, is that I have been praying more and letting the holy spirit move through me and direct my day at a level I have never experience before. I have never shared this in writing before, but for me, letting go of my worries and stress in favor of something magical has been amazing! Just today I woke up earlier than usual and had an urge to read the bible. Those kinds of things have been happening to me lately and I have been listening more. I still have a TON of stuff to work on and I'm just begninng to scratch the surface of this part of my spriritual life, but it's so interesting and just plain fun. Have a GREAT weekend. |
Learning new things every day.... This week has been a great training week so far. I am starting to increase the volume and do a few speed workouts. My friend Karen Burks gave me a fabulous birthday gift last month - a fancy Polar Heart Rate monitor! I have been using it with most of my bike and run sessions, and have learned a lot from watching my heart rate throughout the workout. One of the things I have learned is that on easy training days my heart rate has been WAY too high! I have been adjusting that quite a bit in the last few days, and I seem to be less tired and recovering more quickly from my workouts. The purpose of easy workouts is for recovery and aerobic training - it's amazing what you can learn when you pay attention to the little things!! |
